Located at the south end of Lake Achensee, Maurach is an ideal destination for nature lovers.
The Buchau public swimming area is popular with families thanks to the warm water (approx. 22 °C) and the shallow lakeshore.
The sprawling village, which is also the region's educational center, has been the final stop of the Achensee steam cogwheel train (the oldest of its kind in Europe!) for more than 120 years now. With an elevation gain of 440 meters and a distance of about 7 kilometers the journey from Jenbach to Eben at Lake Achensee is an unparalleled experience. The emerald green lake is surrounded by dark coniferous forests, flower-strewn meadows and the mighty Rofan mountains. Special attractions are the Rofanseilbahn cable car, the "Adlerhorst" vantage platform and the spectacular "Airrofan" skyglider, which offers visitors a bird's eye view of the unique landscape.
