Sankt Gallenkirch is situated in the westernmost state of Austria,
Vorarlberg, in the district Bludenz, on a sea level of 878m. With
its total expanse of nearly 128km² St. Gallenkirch is the
second largest village of the state Vorarlberg. 28,1% of the area
are wooded, 47,1% are high alpine. There are no further cadastral
villages in St. Gallenkirch. The small mountain village Gargellen,
also belonging to St. Gallenkirch, is located above the Montafon.
More towards the valley lied the village Gortipohl with an own
parish church, and on the rightsided from the Ill river the
district Galgenul. Gargellen has about 110 inhabitants and is
located on a sea level of 1.423m and is the highest village in the
Montafon. The place is strongly touristically influenced, there a a
lot of hotels, guesthouses, private apartments and holiday flats.
