Landstraße, the 3rd district of Vienna was formed from
suburbs in 1850. In the 18th and 19th century the Viennese nobility
build summer-residences with big gardens here. Up to today you will
find many buildings in country-style here. The main streets follow
the roman streets that connected the roman settlement, that was
located in the area of the 3rd district, with Carnuntum.
You will find here: the embassy-quarter, the City-Air-Terminal
(direct connection to the Vienna airport in 15 minutes), the castle
Belvedere and the southern railway station. The 3rd district
borders to the 1st district, the city centre.
