Simmering is 11th district of Vienna, Austria. It contains the
formerly autonomous villages Simmering and Kaiserebersdorf and
small parts of other ones, 1955 the village Albern was attached.
The 11th district is set in southern Vienna. Its eastern borders
are the Danube river and the Donaukanal, the western border is the
Ostbahn. Simmering is the topographically lowest spot of Vienna. A
great part of it is the Simmeringer Haide. Further Simmering has
lots of cemetaries, one of them is the Zentralfriedhof. The
southern part of Simmering contains the new living area "Leberberg,
about 15.000 people live there.
