Aalen


Only an hour from the state capital Stuttgart Aalen is the gateway to the Swabian Alb.
There is much to discover in the city center with its winding streets and numerous half-timbered houses. At the marketplace you can learn where Napoleon resided and get to know the history of Aalen spy who wakes from tower of Old City Hall over the city.
The turbulent history of the city is also the subject of several museums. North to the site of the largest Roman cavalry fort in the Alps is now the Limes Museum on the UNESCO World Heritage Limes, the visitor mine "Tiefer Stollen" presents mining history and Fachsenfeld Castle offers an insight into the lifestyle of the Baron of Koenig.
