Saalbach-Hinterglemm (1.003m) is one of the most important wintersports sites in Austria. 100 years ago Saalbach and Hinterglemm used to be to poor mountain villages whose inhabitants just managed to turn the corner. Nowadays Saalbach offers its guests from all over the world 55 lifts, more than 200km groomed pistes, a flood-lit piste, 10km groomed cross-country ski-trails, tobaggan tracks, winter hiking paths, and much more. Unlimited skiing pleasure without car, because the lifts start directly in the centre of the village and lead up to the skiing area. Free ski buses run through the whole Skicircuit and bring back the tired ones to their starting-point. When the sun goes down, the ski day isn't over yet! The ones who still have power in their legs, can race down the flood-lit piste, participate in a torch walk or shake a leg at the Après-Ski in one of the numerous bars.
