The glory of the Habsburger is mixt up with the comunistic regime. The western way of life hits on the culture and world view of the middle east.
Budapest is not only Hungary's capital, but also the geographical, economic, political and cultural center. The city is divided by the Danube in two parts "Buda" and "Pest". This partition makes Budapest to one of the most beautiful cities from Europe. Highest point of the city is the 529m high Jánoshegy (Johannesberg). Budapest consists of 2 large islands, it reaches from the island Csepel in the far south to the northern end of the city, which is formed by the island Szentendre. The strung-out castle mountain on the western waterside in Buda makes out the great silhouette of Budapest. Large gorgeous bridges cross over the Danuber river which is partly more than 200m broad. The eastern waterside in Pest is full of city-life around the Vaci Utca, a shopping boulevard. Travellers and tourists meet at the Vorömaty ter near the Western railway station.
