The Bratislava Region (Slovak: Bratislavský kraj) is one of the administrative regions of Slovakia. Its capital is Bratislava. Total area: 2,053 square kilometres. Total population (2001): 599,015. Population density: 301/square kilometre. It borders on Lower Austria and Burgenland in the west, Hungary in the south, and in the north and east on Trnaysky kraj. In the western part of the capital the March flows into the Danube river, which forms the southern border. Amidst the administrative region there are the Small Carpathians, the foothills of the Carpathian mountains.
