Learn more about Salzburg
Salzburg
Salzburg is the state capital of the region, Salzburg Land, and is
one of the largest European culture and tourist centers. It is
situated in an incomparable landscape on the banks of the Salzach
with the imposing monks and fortress mountain to the west and the
Kapuzinerberg to the east.
The picturesque lanes and alleys in the old-town, the numerous
churches, the proud fortress of Hohensalzburg and the mountainous
landscape are all incomparable attractions of the city. It is an
important international crossroads where trains, motorways and the
border with Germany meet.
The mild climate and the buildings in the Italian-style Barock
buildings give a southern accent to the city. Salzburg is festival
city, music city (Mozart’s home), the seat of the bishop, a center
of learning due to the university and of business by virtue of the
salt trade.
