Vienna – time-honored and excitingly young. Its unique mixture of
imperial tradition and current creativity from Austria’s capital to
one of the most popular destinations of city travellers from all
over the world.
Vienna is a leading culture and entertainment metropolis but at
same time a city of indulging serenity. The architecture from the
Danube monarchy characterizes the scape: Pompous baroque buildings,
from historicism and art nouveau, and spacious gardens still
provide the flair of the romantic imperial town.
Behind the curtains there is even more beauty and arts: Prestigous
museums contain pieces of art of the world – from the
Kunsthistorisches Museum with the worldwide greatest collection of
Bruegel pictures to the many artworks from Gustav Klimt and Egon
Schiele in the Austrian gallery Belvedere. 50 theatres, among them
three opera houses und two musical bandstands and famous festivals
provide a program during the whole year. Vienna is especially known
as city of music. In reality there is no other place where so many
composers have live than in Vienna: Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven,
Schubert, Strauss, Brahms, Mahler, Schönberg and many more.
The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna State Opera and the
Vienna Boys’ Choir are “institutions” of international importance.
Vienna’s cafés offer wonderful optional to have a rest from
sightseeing, taste delicious confections of pasty and read
newspapers (also foreign ones) Vienna’s young scene has born its
own café generation – the trendy style and hip sounds from
DJ’s who know what’s hot.
